- It's never too late for Final Fantasy. As for the stories, none of them are linked. X-2 is a sequel to X but personally I prefer to pretend that it doesn't exist so that I can keep my claim of all FF games being awesome. Each game has all new characters in a (usually) all new world, so there's no need to play the first to play the second and so on. The Final Fantasy series is the best RPG series of all time without question, and I would recommend it to anybody who likes that style of game and most people who don't. FF 7 is often regarded as the best, while I prefer 6 slightly more. You can't go wrong with either of those two.
- never to late strt off with 7. best story & gameplay
- you're never too old and it's never to late to jump into the series. you can pick it up anywhere. the only linked stories that i know of are 10 and 10 II. so feel free to enjoy any one of the many. all of them have great plots and adventures. but in my opinion ffVII and FFIX were two of the best as well at FFIII also know as FFVI in the anthologies collection. ive finally had more time to play and FFXII will soon be added as well
- Its never too late to get into Final Fantasy if you're a first time buyer. As long as you like RPG's, you'll love the Final Fantasy series because its a really good plotted RPG with brilliant characters and storylines. The stories aren't linked, each Final Fantasy has a different storyline with different characters except Final Fantasy X with X-2, also Final Fantasy VII with Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus, Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children (Movie) and Final Fantasy VII: Last Order(Anime Movie), you can tell when the stories are linked.. I personally love all of the Final Fantasy series from Squaresoft, I'm not such a fan of Square Enix because they have messed around with the series a bit too much, making a Final Fantasy third person shooter and generally making bad storylines and gameplay. My best game although has to be Final Fantasy 7, I can recommend it to any player, as the person above said, it's been voted the best RPG ever, even today. So give it a try, and Don't judge it by its graphics, because if you do, you're missin out on an amazing game.
- All the games are fun to play. Every one will tell you they have a favorite one. People will hate me for saying this, but I like VIII. FF X is where the graphics get great. Each battle system is a little different, but you catch on fast. You can get all the games for under $20 now. You can also play FF XI on-line. I play every day. You meet new people from all over the world. I'm in my late 30s and I love playing the games. I don't have a lot of games, because I play the FF games all the time. I have stood in line all night for the last three games, with the rest of the idiots. But that's how much I love the games. You will have so much fun playing. They become like your friends. I cried at the end of IX - X-2. Still playing XII, but I'm at the end now. Just doing all the side quest.
- The Final Fantasy Series is a great series, and with but a few exceptions, none of the stories are linked. I've played I, II, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, X-2, Dirge of Cerberus, and I'm currently on my third playthrough of FFXII for the ps2. It has quickkly become my favorite FF game. The gameplay is different from the normal turn-based attack system. In XII, your battles occur in real-time with enemies appearing on screen instead of random encounters. There are a ton of sidequests and things to do--more than any other FF game. The character development falls a little short, but is easily picked up from storyline events. But whichever FF you choose to start with, it will be the beginning of great RPG relationship--you'll want to play them all!
- Final Fantasy games are the best games in the world even though their stories are not connected. Play them all for an excellent gaming experience. XD
- No, the stories are not linked AT ALL. Each Final Fantasy is it's own game with it's own story, on a completely different world. The games do not share histories, or even the same planet. There are recurring elements to the games, such as there always being a character named Cid, but none of these Characters are the same as the Cids from other games. There are usually large yellow ostrich like birds called Chocobos, most FF games have summoned monsters who will be the same like Shiva, Ifrit, and Bahamut. But, basically, you can pick up ANY Final Fantasy game and not have to worry about what happened in any other. As for like, I enjoy the FF series immensely, I've been playing them since I was a little kid. I've probably played half of the 2 dozen or so games that have had "Final Fantasy" slapped onto their titles. It's all about whether or not you enjoy playing RPGs (Role Playing Games). If you're used to fighting games or action games, RPG gameplay may seem a bit off to you. You didn't say which one you were going to buy, or what systems you own. I would recommend Final Fantasy X for PS2, because it's easily available everywhere, cheap ($10-$20), and an enjoyable game. It might take you an hour or two to get into it, but once you do you'll enjoy a solid 70 hours of playtime.
