How come final fantasy for playstation has more disk than the other playstations?

how come they reduced the numbers of disk in final fantasy for playstation 2 and 3? what did more disk do for the playstation 1 finalfantasys.

  1. Playstation 1 used CD discs. DVD (PS2) and Blu-ray (PS3) have more storage space for the games so that means less discs.

  3. It's a combination of two things: 1) Disk space. PS1 CDs held 650MB. PS2 DVDs were 4.6 or 8.5 GB. PS3 Blu-Rays are even bigger. 2) FF7 was spread across 3 disks, but only about 200MB of each disk was game data (and it was the entire game's data on each disk). The rest of each disk was pre-rendered cutscenes (which take up a huge amount of space). The PS2 Final Fantasies had very few pre-rendered cutscenes, instead using the in-game graphics engine, which takes very little disk space.
